CMGI Cuts More Jobs, This Time At AltaVista

It's hardly a purge, but CMGI, which recently ranked among the highest of the new economy high-flyers, is cutting jobs amid investor demands that Internet companies show a clearer path to near-term profits. AltaVista -- the search engine majority owned by CMGI (stock: CMGI) that in April postponed its initial public offering -- this week cut 60 positions from a staff of about 800.
