Netscape users log on to find name change

Saturday April 01 by Claudia bourne
Many of the 6 million people who signed up for Netscape Communications' free e-mail opportunity on Friday will unexpectedly find themselves with different online addresses, according to a report published Saturday. "Netscape has recently added many new services," Catherine Corre, a spokeswoman for Netscape, a unit of America Online (AOL: news, msgs), told The Washington Post. "Many of these services have existing membership lists, with conflicting usernames. To make these new services available to all of our members, we must rename all conflicting usernames."
